United Nigeria Airline, Bayelsa sign MOU on operations at Bayelsa International Airport

The Management of United Nigeria Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Bayelsa State to operate scheduled flights in and out of the Bayelsa International Airport.

In a statement made available by the Head, Corporate Communications, UNA, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, the agreement which was signed on Wednesday June 16, 2021 will allow the airline to operate four direct scheduled daily flights into and out of  the airport.

“The Management of United Nigeria Airlines today, June 16, 2021, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Bayelsa state for the commencement of direct scheduled flight operations into, and out of, the Bayelsa International Airport.
“According to the terms of the agreement, United Nigeria will operate four daily flights in and out Bayelsa International Airport,” Uchegbu said.

The airline ‘s image maker added that from July 2021, United Nigeria will service the Bayelsa International Airport daily from the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MM2), Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

“With the MoU, United Nigeria Airlines will commence direct flight operations to Bayelsa International Airport in July, 2021,” he explained.

The MOU was signed in the presence of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri and the executive council.
Speaking on the MOU, Diri noted that with the signing of the agreement, Bayelsans will begin to reap the benefits of the government’s investment in infrastructure.
He also said the venture will open Bayelsa, resource not only to Nigeria but the entire world.

On the choice of the airline,  Diri said, “United Nigeria Airlines was chosen as partner because of its quality of service and efficiency.”

In his response at the occasion, Executive Director (ED) / Chief  Operations Officer (COO) of United Nigeria Airlines, Mazi Osita Okonkwo thanked the government and people of Bayelsa state for choosing United Nigeria Airlines. He assured that the airline will continue to offer the quality service that it is known for.
