LAAC loses pioneer Chairman, LatLaw

The  death has been announced of the pioneer Chairman of League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), Alhaji  Lateef Lawal, popularly known as Latlaw.

The news of the death of Latlaw was broken on Sunday by the immediatee Past Chairman of the league, Mr Chucks Iwelumo via LAAC members WhatsApp platform.

Iwelumo said a son of the deceased who broke the sad news, informed him that the erudite journalist died on Saturday evening after a road crash in Ota, Ado-Ado-Ota Local Government  Area of Ogun State.

Confirming the incident, the incumbent Chairman of LAAC, Mr. Olusegun Koiki further informed that the remains of the deceased would be interned at his residence in  Ota by 4 PM on Sunday according to Islamic rites.

Latlaw was an aviation correspondent for the defunct Nigerian Sketch from where he retired and form an industry magazine, Nigerian Aviation News. He wrote a book titled: “The turbulent years of Nigeria Airways” on the rots  in the  national carrier before the airline was dissolved by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

He pioneered the publishing of  online aviation news magazine in Nigeria.

Latlaw travelled widely and attended many courses on  aviation reportage both in Nigeria and overseas.

He was a repertoire of  knowledge of aviation industry in Nigeria, Africa and Middle East.
