Akwa Vernon Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eni has invited the Federal Government  to  commission  the state owned Maintenance Repair and Overhaul-(MRO) hangar even as he mulled the idea of possible concessionng of the facility

A statement by the Special Assistant, Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, said the governor made the request on Friday during a visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo (SAN), in his office in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, the governor who said the state owned airline-Ibom Air has received ten new aircraft to expand its operations, affirmed that the state’s investment in aviation is worthwhile.

“This visit is long overdue, there’s a need to brief you officially that we have just taken delivery of brand new aircraft. Ten of them-Airbus A220-300 from the manufacturer, this will further ease airline operations and position Ibom Air for expansion across diverse African destinations”, the governor briefed.

“So, we’re looking at factoring out a symbiotic relationship between Akwa Ibom State and your office as the Aviation Minister,, a situation where our aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul-(MRO) facility will officially be concessioned by the federal government,” the governor stated.

Eno has therefore invited the Minister to Akwa Ibom for an inspection tour of the MRO facility  before its ccommissioning

In his response, the Keyamo commended the efforts of the Akwa Ibom State government for its commitment and determination of providing world-class airline services to the nation.
