…begins investigations into alleged aircraft burglary
As the rush for air travel gain momentum following the fast approach of the yuletide, Management of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers and other airport users that her network of airports across the country are fully prepared for the usual surge in the traffic associated with the season, even as it said it has began investigations into an alleged aircraft burglary in Lagos airport.
In a statement by the spokesperson of the airports authority, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu security around all the airports particularly the major international gateways in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano, have been beefed up to ensure that passengers and other airport users make use of airport facilities without any security threat.
She however, enjoined airport users, meters and greeters to make use of the parking facilities provided in the airports across the nation and particularly Lagos to ensure for their comfort while using the airports.
“At our premier airport, the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, a multi-storey car park was recently commissioned to ease ground facilitation, the VIP lounge has also been renovated to enhance passenger comfort, the carousels are working optimally, amidst other facilities upgrade currently on going.
“The stories are similar at all other airports, as the Authority has put in place facilities, procedures and systems to ensure maximum comfort, safety and security of airports users during this season and beyond.
Yakubu also appealed on the air passengers to arrive at the airports early to conclude all check-in procedures in good time, to avoid the experience of missing their flights since heavy passenger traffic would be experienced during the time preceding the long holidays and the ongoing construction work by the Lagos State Government on airport road, Lagos.
Similar, in a response to the issue of an alleged break in into a private jet while taxied to the hangar at Murtal Muhammed International Airport Lagos on , Yakubu said FAAN in conjunction with other relevant security agencies in the aviation sector, has commenced a thorough investigations into the allegation.
“FAAN has commenced investigations into the case of a burgled aircraft, alleged to have occurred on the night of 12th December, 2017.
The FAAN’s spokesperson who said a report of alleged burglary on “a Vista Jet aircraft with Call Sign VJT 584, while taxiing in the night, has been reported to FAAN, assured that. ”combined team of FAAN’s Aviation Security Department, Airport Police Command and other relevant security agencies have swung into action to reveal the perpetrators of this act and to prevent future reoccurrence of such,” She said.
