There are strong indications that the second batch of about 290 among Nigerians and other African nationals who suffered Xenophobic attacks in South Africa will arrive Nigeria this evening.
Latest information received by africanbusinesstravel.com.ng said that the Nigerians are air borne on board Air Peace flight APK 7818 operated with a Boeing 777.
The flight is expected to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) at about 17:00 hours GMT (6pm local time).
The breakdown of the evacuees obtained by our correspondent indicated that there 25 infants among the 290 Nigerian returnees on board the flight.
The flight which was scheduled to leave Oliver R Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg in the early hours of Wednesday and arrive Nigeria by noon was delayed following certain unforeseen circumstances created by South African authorities.
Notwithstanding, the flight departed from the former apartheid enclave by 1:50pm local time.
It would be recalled that the Boeing 777 aircraft with registration 5N-BWI was supposed to have departed Lagos at 1.00 am(Tuesday), but it was denied landing permit by the South African authorities thereby stalling the return of the second batch of Nigerians from the country
