Some aggrieved stranded passengers of Dana Air at the Teminal Two Domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos on Thursday went on rampage and vandalized property of the airline.
The passengers who had come to the airport early on Thursday to board their morning flights to different destinations across the country got agitated when they met Dana Air counter unmanned by the airline’s personnel
African Business Travel News (ABTN) learnt that the passengers got violent after waiting for hours only to be told that they would not have their flights because operations of Dana Air has been suspended indefinitely by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
A security source in the terminal who spoke with our correspondent under the condition of anonymity because, he was not authorized to do so, said those responsible for the damage could not be apprehended because doing so may cause further security breaches at the airport terminal.
However some officials of the airline who later appeared at the scene of the vandalized property in the terminal advised and directed the aggrieved passengers to write down their names for refund.
Our correspondent reported that the passengers have been assured that they would begin to get refunds by weekend or early next week
Some of the passengers who spoke with our correspondent, however, lauded NCAA for grounding the operations of the airline and prevent a crash.
“Though we are not happy having our flights disrupted because of the grounding of operations of Dana Air. But, we are happy that the regulatory authority was proactive and grounded the operations of the airline before a crash occurs,” some of the stranded passengers said.
