One of the leading Nigerian airlines contracted to evacuate stranded Nigerians from Eastern European countries, Max Air arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja with the first batch of 416 passengers on Friday morning.
A statement by the Media Consultant to the airline, Ibrahim Dahiru, said the operation was carried hitch free both in Bucharest, Romania and Abuja, Nigeria.
The flight which was operated with a Boeing 747-400 aircraft, marked 5N-HMM, touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja (ABV) at 0611hours.
Also, a reliable source involved in the operation said the officials of Nigerian Embassy at Bucharest, Romania were very helpful at ensuring seamless facilitation of the passengers in Bucharest.
The source said the embassy officials had ensured the facilitation of every departing passenger before the Max Air operated flight from Nigeria arrived at Otopeni International Airport, Bucharest.
African Business Travel News (ABTN) reliably gather that the flight departed the Bucharest airport at 12.15hrs Romania local time on Friday.
Speaking on the airlift operation, Chairman of Max Air, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal who assured the Federal government and Nigerians that Max Air has capacity to deliver whenever it is called, added, ” we are still willing to continue the airlift of the remaining stranded passengers for the sake of our beloved country. It would be recalled that we did a similar exercise during the Libya refugee crisis where we evacuated over 3000 people successfully.”
