The runway of Port Harcourt International Airport which was closed to traffic yesterday after an Air Peace aircraft skidded off the runway has been reopened to air traffic.
This was followed by a NOTAM issued by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) after the runway had been cleared of all incumbrances.
Confirming the reopening of the runway, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in a statement by its spokesperson, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu said: “Following a skidding incident yesterday involving an Air Peace flight with registration number 5N BRN, flying from Abuja to Port Harcourt, the Port Harcourt International Airport runway has been cleared and the airport is now reopened for normal flight operations.
“The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has issued a Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) to that effect in line with standards and recommended practice”.
