The Management of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said that its Managing Director/ Chief Executive, Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed does not have any official vehicle.

In a rebuttal issued on a media report published by Sahara Reporters which claimed that Mohammed approved N200 Million for the purchase of Toyota Land Cruiser 70th Anniversary Edition for himself as his official vehicle,  FAAN said the media report is false.

The rebuttal, signed by FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mallam Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, said the Managing Director of FAAN does not have any official vehicle and has not approved the purchase of any new vehicle either for himself or anyone in the agency, since he assumed office in May 2023.

“This is to inform the general public that the claim by Sahara Reporters that FAAN Managing Director, Mr Kabir Yusuf Muhammed approved N200 Million for the purchase of Toyota Land Cruiser 70th Anniversary Edition for himself as his official vehicle is false.

“Since his assumption of office, FAAN MD does not have any official car and did not buy any for anyone,” FAAN said.

The statement added that when some old vehicles were refurbished for the newly appointed Directors, in the agency the Managing  Director was given one of the vehicles but he had to return it because they did not go round.

The statement, however said that a contract for the procurement of operation vehicles was awarded by the former Managing Director but are yet to be supplied.

FAAN insisted that the vehicle being use by the Managing Director to work does not belong to FAAN and that its registration number could be verified through the appropriate authorities.

The statement continued, “When some old vehicles were refurbished for the newly appointed Directors, the MD was given one but he had to return it because the vehicles did not go round.

“A contract for the procurement of operation vehicles was awarded by the former Managing Director. They are yet to be supplied.

“The vehicle he is using to work does not belong to FAAN.
“The vehicle’s registration number could be verified through the appropriate authorities.”

While alleging that some agents of doom have resorted to the use of the media to distract the new Managing Director from the good work he has started in repositioning the aviation agency to greater heights, FAAN therefore appealed to reporters to authenticate the veracity of their reports before going public.
