N800m Debt: FAAN withdraws services to Gombe, Kebbi Airports

africanbusinesstravel.com.ng learnt this was contained in a   Notice To Air Men (NOTAM) sent to the airports yesterday
FAAN, in the NOTAM announced the withdrawal of men of the safety and fire rescue and aviation security personnel attached to the two airports.
With the withdrawals, the airport is technically shut down.
About two weeks ago, FAAN had notified the managements and governments of the two States over its intention to withdraw its services over their failures to address the huge indebtedness.
 Investigation revealed that FAAN gave the two states governments ample time to settle their debts but they remained adamant.
Meanwhile. FAAN is set to take its phased debt recovery move to other airports after that of Gombe and Kebbi.

FAAN, it was learnt,  had wanted to carry out the move in other airports but was stopped by powers in the presidency. The agency has vowed to forge ahead with its plans to close all state airports owing the organisation
