Military aircraft crashes in Abuja, killing six souls on board

A Nigerian Air Force  NAF201 a B350 aircraft that departed Abuja Airport  this morning with  six persons,  including  two crew, on board  has crashed; killing all the six persons on onboard.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika via his confirmed Twitter handle: (@hadisirika) Tweeted:
A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. It appears to be fatal. We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any. https://twitter.com/hadisirika/status/1363453170769416192?s=20

Our reliable sources within the Abuja airport which also confirmed the crash said, “Fire services were already at the scene of the accident for rescue operations.”

Meanwhile Accident investigation Bureau AIB has directed that it does not have statutory  power to investigate the crash  except it is invited to do  It therefore pleaded that all enquiries about the crash should be directed to the appropriate military authorities.

“Good afternoon everybody. There was an accident involving a military aircraft. By the power established AIB-N, we do not investigate military incidents or accident except where invited. Please direct all your enquiries to the appropriate authorities.” AIB said.
