…Begins airlifts of intending pilgrims from Lagos on Friday
The Vice President, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has flagged off the airlift of intending pilgrims to the holy land in Saudi Arabia..
He was joined by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo (SAN) during an event which took place at Sir. Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Kebbi , Kebbi State.
Other dignitaries who witnessed the event were the Governor of Kebbi State, Comr. Dr. Nasir Idris, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
Also present at the event were, the Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku and the Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Alhaji Umar Faruk.
A statement by the Special Assistant, to Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, added that Keyamo also monitored the airlift of Abuja/Nasarawa intending pilgrims at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Minister expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders involved and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing the necessary support and infrastructure for the success of 2024 hajj operations.
Meanwhile, Max Air airlifted about 559 intending pilgrims from Nnamidi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja to Saudi Arabia.
The airline operated the flight with an aircraft marked 5N-HMM which departed Abuja Airport at about 18:57 hours.
Max Air will also airlift the first batch of intending pilgrims from Lagos State at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos to Saudi Arabia on Friday.
