The immediate past Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer, Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc, Mr. Basil Agboarumi has been appointed as the Chairman of the Management Committee of the newly established Aviation Hub of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The appointment, approved by the NIPR Governing Council, was confirmed following the Council’s 115th meeting held on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
Agboarumi is expected to bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having previously served as
Managing Director of one of the leading players in Nigeria’s aviation industry, Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) PLC.
He also held the position of Executive Director, Corporate and Governmental Affairs at a eading conglomerate, SIFAX Group, where he oversaw key corporate communications and industry engagement strategies.
The distinguished career in the aviation sector makes him a well-considered choice for the
Chairmanship, reflecting the trust NIPR has in his ability to lead this pivotal initiative.
The NIPR Aviation Hub will be operated as an enterprise, with a Management Committee
comprising five to seven members. This initiative reflects NIPR’s commitment to driving
excellence within the aviation industry and supporting the role of public relations in the sector.
The decision to appoint Agboarumi as Chairman is a recognition of his exceptional expertise, commitment, and dedication to advancing the objectives of the Aviation Hub. NIPR is confident that under his leadership, the Hub will thrive and play a pivotal role in the aviation industry.
The official inauguration of the Management Committee took place virtually on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. and was presided over by the National president of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, with other council members present.
Other appointees as chairpersons of other newly created hubs included Dr Jossy Nkwocha to head the Energy Hub, Mr Rasheed Bolarinwa, Finance Hub and Mrs Thelma Okoh for the
Maritime Hub.
Dr Ahmad Sajoh was also appointed to lead the Anti-Corruption and Consumer Protection Hub, and Miss Chimdi Neliaku for the Young Practitioners Hub.
