There are indications that some Directors in Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) may have been relieved of their appointments while all the General Managers and Deputy General Managers who were allegedly not properly placed in their appointments have been demoted.
As at the time of filling this report, about nine of the eleven Directors in FAAN have been relieved of their appointments while 23 general managers are affected.
While all demoted officials may decide to go resign or accept their new levels.
Investigations by African Business Travels News revealed that some officials from the Federal Ministry of Transport arrived at FAAN Headquarters in Lagos to distribute this morning to distribute letters of the termination of the appointments and also monitor the proper placement of the affected senior members of staff who were alleged to have been brought in the administration of Princess Stella Oduah.
It would be recalled that Federal Government set up a committee on the restructuring of aviation agencies headed by the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Winiefred Oyo-Ita to look into the allegations of improper placement of staff in the agencies.
The committee however recommended proper placement of all the staff in the agencies.
This recommendation was expected to bring about demotion of many senior officers who were brought in as General Managers, Deputy General Managers and Assistant General Managers and placed on Salary Levels 15, 16 and 17.
But with the new development the affected officers would be demoted to salary level 10 in line with the civil service rules of engagement.
There had been speculations that the exercise would have taken place in June, but was delayed due to some unidentified factors.
Confirming the development, a top official at FAAN headquarters told ABTN that the development was ‘unfolding.’ The source added that some officials of the Federal Ministry of Transport are in Lagos and anytime Ministry officials from Abuja are in Lagos, some was about to happen.
