Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Engr. Saleh Dunoma has assured that the Authority would do all within its capacity to ensure that the burnt
Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri is renovated as soon as possible, to ameliorate the inconveniences the incident may have caused airport users.
Dunoma gave the assurance during his visit to the airport on Thursday to have first hand information on the extent of damage caused by the fire.
He was accompanied on the visit by the Directors of Engineering Services, Human Resources & Administration, Commercial & Business Development and General Managers, Civil & Building, Safety at FAAN..
Expressing his sorrow over the unfortunate inferno, the FAAN’s. Chief Executive Officer was however full of praises to God that there was no casualty in the incident,
Engr Dunoma who was received on arrival by the Airport Manager and her team, stated that a committee has already been constituted to inquire into the remote cause of the incident.
He however, hinted that the insurer, Zenith Insurance has conducted the evaluation of the damage and has agreed to pay the claims in full.
Meanwhile, Engr. Dunoma advised the Airport Management to continue to engage the host communities and other stakeholders collaboratively in the interest of all.
Engr Dunoma used the opportunity of his visit to appreciate the incumbent Governor of the State, His Excellency, Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Governor Elect, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha for their support and timely interventions during the incident.
He also thanked the Air Force commandant,, the Divisional Police Officer, Owerri airport command and their teams for the roles played during the incident.
The CEO’s visit on Thursday was the second of such from the management of FAAN within two days after the incident.
It would be recalled that the Director of Engineering Services of the Authority, Engr Salisu Daura had earlier led a team of Management staff to the airport on Wednesday
