Officers of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Airport Rescu(e and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) yesterday curtailed a wildfire that occurred around the RESA of 36L, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
A statement by the spokesperson of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, said the fire which its source were yet unknown the incident did not affect flight operations
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeri wishes to inform airlines operators other airport users that a bush fire incident has been reported around the RESA of 36L, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the statement said.
It added, “Officers of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) are presently on ground and fire fighting is in progress.
“However, the incident at the Lagos airport did not affect flight operations as normal flight operations continued unhindered”.
It would be recalled that similar wild fire incident occurred in similar area of Port Harcourt International Airport early this month, leading to closure of the runway and disruption of flights into and out of the airport.
Yakubu however, assured of FAAN’s commitment to her core values of safety, security and comfort.
