EXJET aircraft skids off runway in Lagos

The EXJET aircraft involved in runway excursion at Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos on Saturday

 

Less than a month after an aircraft operated by Dana Air skidded off on Runway 18 L Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos, another aircraft operated by a private airline, EXJET  on Saturday at about 11:29 hours was involved in similar incident on the same runway.

The aircraft belonging to Xejet   will call sign  5N-BZZ veered off the runway at the domestic wing of Lagos Airport.

 

It would be recalled that similar incident  involving Dana Air, prompted  the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo (SAN) to order Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to suspend the Dana Air operations and began operational audit on the airline while awaiting the reports on the incident

Available facts before our correspondent revealed that the Xejet aircraft, arriving from Abuja, skidded off the runway onto the grass verge upon landing with about 52 -3 passengers on board.

Emergency response was swiftly conducted the evacuation with assistance from fire and rescue teams.

Currently, the runway remains closed to traffic pending further updates.

Meanwhile, the National Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, says, it has been notified of the incident and has deployed its team of investigators to the scene.
