Ethiopian airlines has appointed a new General Manager for its operations in Nigeria. He is Mr. Shimeles Arage.
Arage took over from Mrs. Firihiewot Mekonnen who has been moved to Frankfurt Germany as Manager.
Before his appointment, Arage was the Regional Manager Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. He once served in Equatorial Guinea and also as Director Revenue Management at the airline’s headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The new General Manager holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and also a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
He has attended many aviation related courses both in Ethiopia and around the world.
As a tested manager, Arage is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear as he leads the airline’s team in Nigeria.
As the leading airline in Africa, Ethiopian airlines parades the youngest and largest fleet.
It operates to Abuja,Lagos,Kano and Enugu airports in Nigeria with brand new A350, B787 and B777 aircraft.
Ethiopian Airlines has been operating into Nigeria since her independence in 1960. It was the first international airline to fly to Enugu International Airport.
It was the only foreign airline operating to Kaduna Airport when the runway of Abuja Airport was shutdown for rehabilitation in 2018.
The East African carrier was the first airline to operate the B787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 aircraft to Nigeria.
In December 2017 it organised the first all female crew operated flight to Nigeria.
