Following the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Lagos State, Arik Air has announced cancellation of all inbound and outbound flights to and from Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
Arik Air, in a statement by its Public Relations Manager, Banji Ola said it has cancelled all its flight operations for Wednesday, October 21, 2020.
Ola said the cancellations are due to the 24 hours curfew announced by the Lagos State government on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
He advised all booked passengers on the cancelled flights to reschedule their flights for later dates at no extra cost.
It is however expected that all other domestic and some international airlines operating to the Lagos Airport may soon announce cancellations of their flights for the period the curfew will last.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu on Tuesday morning announced a 24 hour curfew effective 4:00pm October 20, 2020, following escalating violence in the wake of the End SARS protests in the state.
Also, activities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, have since Monday been paralysed after protesters took over roads leading to the airport.
