By Adewumi Ademiju Ado Ekiti
An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State.Dr. Wole Oluyede has welcomed the declaration of a former governor in the state, Engr. Segun Oni to the governorship race saying, ‘’it’s a welcome development. The more the merrier.”
A statement signed by the Director General of Oluyede Campaign Organization, Honourable Gabriel Ogundele which was made available to journalists described Engineer Oni’s declaration as ‘an ironic twist and a goose-chase.‘
The aspirant who is not disturbed by the former governor’s entry into the race said, “I am very sure Ekiti APC delegates will use their votes,to do justice to the numerous aspirants on the field. The best will definitely emerge.
Ogundele noted that aggressive agitation is going on in the state clamouring for a paradigm and power shift to the South Senatorial District.
“The South had been viciously marginalised, bearing in mind, that the south is the most populated, with six local governments areas and 64 out of the 177 Wards in Ekiti State. Justice is Justice. Fair is Fair,’’ he declared.
Ogundele said Oluyede has a political agenda campaign promises that are uniquely different from all conservative leanings.
He explained that the Ikere Ekiti-born governorship aspirant has promised to create wealth through which jobs would be provided for Ekiti youths and ameliorate poverty in the state by harnessing the untapped potential and resouces.
That, according to him differentiates Oluyede from’ the array of aspirants clamouring for the APC ticket in the state’
Ogundele who therefore urged the APC to learn from the outcome of the recent Osun West Senatorial election where the party lost to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cautioned that people’s will is always paramount in democracy.
He noted that democracy is participatory, even as he said that “anybody asking for the sovereignty of people has to listen to the peoplebecause electoral power belongs to the people.”
