Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Isah Jere Idris (MFR)

The Murtala  Muhanmed International Airport Lagos Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has been commended for professionalism, discipline and effecting  seamless passenger facilitation at the airport.

The commendations were given by a well known human rights social crusader, Comrade Adeyanju Deji via his confirmed Twitter handle: Adeyanju Deji and another air  passenger, Eminence Grise via a Twitter handle @Eminence grise.

Adeyanju who said he went through the Lagos Airport for a brief trip outside the country, noted that the personnel at immigration counters in the airport terminal exhibited professionalism at discharging their duties.

He wrote that during his passage through the Lagos airport, he from a far watched the personnel of all the border control agencies attached to the airport while they attended to passengers passing through their counters. He observed  that except at the immigration counters, all personnel from other border control agencies were demanding money from the passengers.

” Travelling out of the country briefly and officers of Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS) at the Lagos Airport were so professional and decent. I watched them from a far attending to people but at the other security agents; from Customs NDLEA, AVSEC at the Lagos Airport were demanding money from travellers,” Adeyanju wrote on his Twitter handle.

Similarly, in another  Twitter post on October 16, 2022, another passenger wrote who claimed he travelled through the Lagos Airport on October 15, 2022, stated that personnel of NIS and NDLEA were diligent at discharging their duties during the time he passed through the Airport.

The passenger, Eminence Grise complained that officials of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) did not exhibit professionalism in the  discharge of their duties at the gateway airport. The passenger alleged that the NCDC officialswere rude and fight almost broke out with the manner with which they handled passengers.

Grise who recalled that the NCDC officials impeded seamless passenger facilitation at the airport, recalled that about 7min were spent at the Immigration area despite the long queue while about 45 minutes at NCDC and 30 minutes at the Department of State Services (DSS) screening points respectively.

The passenger who suggested that inter-agency data sharing should be encouraged at the gateway airport, insisted that NCDC personnel at the airport should get better trainings on courtesy or be redeployed elsewhere at a time similar agency has being removed from airports around the world.

“In reply to @NIS_nigeria, interestingly,  Immigration and NDLEA were okay at the Airport yesterday and they also had 4 -5 points to attend. Spent just 7 min there (+ the queue) unlike the ncdc.gov was 45min. The NCDC was rude to people and fight almost broke out. SSS/DSS point 30 min.

“The immigration guys can do what ncdc.gov and SSS/DSS  are doing in 2- 3 mins with inter-agency data sharing.

“The NCDC point and form have been removed in most countries. Deploy them elsewhere. Streamline processes for effectiveness. Ttrain your professional staff to be courteous,” Eminence wrote on the Twitter handle.

traveler who also commended the NIS personnel at the airport for showing professionalism and efficiency at assuring seamless passenger facilitation at the Airport was another Twitter handle user  Eminence Grise in a post on
