Turkish Airlines has said it has rescheduled its flight operations in Nigeria starting from Monday March 23, 2020 following the closure of the International airports in Nigeria as a way to contain the spread of deadly coronavirus COVID-19 in the country.
A statement made available to africanbusinesstravel.com.ng by the media department of the airline said the decision is to accommodate passengers of the cancelled flights and ensure they all reach their destination before the closure of airports.
It would be recalled that the federal government through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced restriction of International flight operations, to two remaining international airports, Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and Murtala Muhammed international, Lagos, from 23:00hours on Monday March 23, 2020 to April 23, 2020, after it had earlier closed three other gateway airports in the country because of the coronavirus.
The statement from the airline reads: “Following the announcement of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to shut down international airports in Lagos and Abuja for all flights, starting from Monday, 23rd March, 2020, Turkish Airlines, as the airline that puts travel security at the forefront, will be rescheduling its flights for Tuesday, 24th March, 2020 to Monday, 23rd March 2020.
“This is to accommodate passengers of the cancelled flights and ensure they all reach their destination before the closure of airports”.
