As part of efforts at ensuring standard production of nosecovers/facemasks to contain the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 in the country, a team of officials from Standard Organization of Nigeria ( SON) has visited 7 Star Hangar facility to give guidelines on the production of one of the essential items recommended to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
The 3-man inspection team was led by Hajiya Rabiu Kabir a senior technical officer at SON.
7 Star hangar is a Lagos based aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) company.
It would be recalled that SON carried out similar inspections at Cross State Garment Factory and Nigerian Air Force facility in Port Harcourt where facemasks are produced in commercial quantities
Speaking shortly after an inspection of the facility at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Ikeja, by the team, Managing director, 7Star Hangar, Engr Isaac Balami told africanbusinesstravel.com.ng that the 3-man team was at the hangar to ascertain the level of their compliance to the approved guidelines of their nose masks production.
Balami explained that the team was pleased with what they saw on ground after their inspection and gave the company guidelines for the production of the nose masks.
He said the 7Star will soon start printing instructions on the usage of masks and country of production as recommended by SON; just as he disclosed that the company planned to begin the production of collar T-shirts and airline crew uniforms with its over 500 sewing machines.
According to him, “7star Hangar has met all standards in the production of nose masks especially with the production of 100,000 nose masks daily.”
Balami said the company was fully prepared to meet industry demand as airlines are looking forward to resume flights operations after the shut down occasioned by coronavirus pandemic. He added that this will involve the provisions of seat covers and aircraft maintenance.
