The Comptroller General Nigeria Immigration Service (CGNIS), Comptroller General Isah Jere Idris (MFR) has been commended for his initiatives at introducing Diaspora Fasttrack Passports renewal application desks at the nation’s gateway airports.
The words of commendations were contained in a letter from, a clergyman and the Vicar of All Souls’ Church, Anglican Communion, No 1, Arigidi Street, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, The Venerable (Engr.) B.B.O. Obaweya, to the Comptroller, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command of Nigeria Immigration Service.
In the letter, Venerable Obaweya who claimed that the conducts and professionalism accorded his wife at facilitating the renewal of her Passport within a very short time without demanding any form of gratification, gave him the assurance that a better Nigeria is at hand.
The man of God, in the letter explained that his wife who arrived Nigeria from abroad on December 25,2022 was given the much needed assistance by the operatives of NIS at Airport Command to fasttrack renewal of her passport without demanding any form of gratification even as they monitored the renewal process with telephone calls to the family to ensure the entire process went on seamlessly.
The clergyman wrote: “I write to commend the conducts and professionalusm in facilitating the renewal of my wife’s passport. She arrived the country from abroad on Christmas Day and approached the men of the Airport Command. It was with little bit of skepticism that she did, but to her surprise she was attended to very warmly and professionally.
“She explained that she had a limited time in the country and they gave her a referral note to the Oyo State Command where we live. To our surprise the Passport was renewed within nine days. I even got a call from one of your officers following up on the process.”
“I write this to encourage officers of the command and to reiterate our belief that a better Nigeria is possible,” Venerable Obaweya concluded.
It would be recalled that as part of the reforms brought into the Service by Comptroller General Isah Jere Idris ( MFR) was the introduction of the Diaspora Fasttrack Passport renewal desk for to Nigerians in diaspora.
The initiative is to facilitate renewal of Passports for Nigerians in diaspora while they are in the country without delays.
