In reaction to some media reports on the recent bird strike incident which involved an aircraft belonging to Max Air Ltd, in Kano, the airline said its Pilot-in-Command of the flight followed procedures by making an air return, landed safely and the passengers disembarked without anyone of them sustaining any injury.
The explanation was given by on behalf of the airline by its Director Of Maintenance.
Max Air ltd; Engr.Muhammad Mubarak Haladu who was on board the flight when the bird strike incident happened.
Haladu, in a statement made available to African Business Travel News (ABTN) on Wednesday night said, “I have called and explained in plain simple terms what actually happened and that the Captain followed procedure and made an air returned to Aminu Kano international Airport, Kano shortly after take off after experiencing a bird strike on number two engine where all passengers safely disembarked without any problem”
He added that the problem was identified and rectified by a team of competent engineers from the airline before it was released for service.
“The Engineers rectified the problem and certified and released Aircraft to service.
I was also on board the flight along with my other management colleagues and have rejoined the aircraft and safely landed in Abuja. The social media report was simply a negation of the facts as they occurred, with the sole intention to undermine our very good image with track safety record”.
The Director of maintenance at the airline however said his doors are opened to anyone who wanted further clarification on what happened during and after the bird strike, added that inspectors from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA) came to inspect the aircraft after the problem was fixed, and gave clearance in line with Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs).
“If they require any further information we should be very much obliged to give. The Regulator came in gave us clearance in accordance Nigerian civil Aviation regulation”
Haladu affirmed that the airline has maintained track safety records that are second to none in its one and half decades of existence.
“At Max Air safety is our covalue with our over one and and a half decades in civil aviation our experience in safe service delivery speaks for itself,” the maintenance director insisted.
