Air Traffic Controllers offering services in Nigeria have been urged to focus more on their professional callings to ensure safety in our airspace.
The call was made by the President of Nigeria Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), Abayomi Agoro during the anniversary to mark this year’s International Day of the Air Traffic Controllers.
Agoro who enumerated the importance of the ATC day as one that gives stakeholders the opportunity to do self evaluation on safety in the airspace, urged his members to always think about safety at all times.
“International Day of the Air Traffic Controllers provides us the opportunity to appraise our performance, how steadily have we kept our eyes on the ball in our sole responsibility of ensuring safety.
“I am using this year’s celebration to call on us members of NATCA as professionals saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safe take-off and safe-landing to keep living up to the profession’s expectation in line with the global highest safety standards. *We must think safety, act safety and ensure safety at all times,” he said.
Adding, “As indispensable part of the whole in the aviation industry, even, in the face of challenges, safety must always be our mantra which reinforces our competence as thoroughbred professionals.
“It is a sacrosanct call to duty and we cannot afford to shirk on our professional responsibility”.
