The Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB-N) said it has started investigations into a serious incident which involved another aircraft operated by another domestic operator in the country.
AIB, in a statement by its spokesperson, Tunji Oketunbi said it went into the investigation after it was informed of the serious incident which occurred on board a Boeing 737-500 with registration marks 5N-BQM used by MedView airlines PLC to operate a flight en route Lagos from Abuja.
The Investigating Agency which said the incident occurred on July 23, 2019 at about 3:07pm local time with 27 passengers and six (6) crew members on board the flight confirmed that there was no fatality.
It explained further that the incident was followed by deployment of oxygen masks which necessitated the crew to carry out emergency descent procedure.
“From the information gathered so far, cabin altitude warning came ON at FL 320 followed by deployment of oxygen masks which necessitated the crew to carry out emergency descent procedure.
Our team of safety investigators have commenced investigation,” AIB explained.
As the investigating agency, AIB, therefore solicited the assistance of the general public on providing video clips or any any other evidence that may help it in its investigation.
“As the investigating agency, AIB needs and hereby solicits for your assistance. The Bureau also called on the public and the users of social media to “respect the privacy of the people involved and NOT assume the cause of the accident until formal report is released.”
