As part of efforts to ensure safety and security in and around aviation industry in Nigeria, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has graduated another batch of 227 cadets for the Aviation Security (AVSEC) and Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) operations.
Speaking at the passing out parade held at the playground/field of Murtala Muhammed Airport Schools, Ikeja this morning, the Managing Director of FAAN, Engr. Saleh Dunoma who was represented by the Director, directorate of Engineering, FAAN, Engr. Salisu Daura said the graduation was to demonstrate the management’s continuous commitment to human capacity development in order to meet highest standards of professionalism and best industry practices.
Dunoma who commended the parade instructors and trainees for the impressive performance, professional carriage and excellent drills, enjoined the new officers to remember all that they learnt during the trainings and make a personal commitment to excel in the chosen carrier.
Noting that the career s are challenging, he however, the Chief Executive at FAAN urged them to have a great responsibility to live up to the vision of FAAN, which is, to be one of the best airport groups in the world.
Calling on officers to be vigilant and ensure that they do not become the weak link in the value chain, Dunoma who acknowledged the inherent challenges in the operations , mandated the newly graduated cadets to remain committed to their duties without compromise.
“You should be vigilant and ensure that you do not become the weak link in this value chain. While acknowledging the inherent challenges in your operations, you must guard against temptation, and compromises. You should always put service first before any other consideration as this organization places integrity above all other things,” Dunoma insisted.
Reaffirming the management’s commitment to human capacity development, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reiterated his belief that the cadets will continue to give their best to the organization.
The parade which was the third batch of the 2014 set saw the graduation of 115 personnel from ARFFS and 107 AVSEC operatives.
With the first and second batches held earlier in the year, FAAN has graduated over 700 cadets for both the ARFFS and AVSEC.
Also speaking at the event, Director of Human Resources and Administration, FAAN, Mr. Norris Anozie who performed his first major assignment after his appointment into the position last month, said the graduation of the officers has increased the pool of well trained staff available to serve in the aviation industry.
Anozie who said the success of the innovative policies being pursued by this administration depends on the quality of public servants who drive it, noted that FAAN has a pool of well – trained and motivated staff who are supporting the government in the realization of its objectives in the aviation sector.
However, the passing parade which was the third for the set of security and safety personnel recruited in 2015, recorded many firsts as it was the first passing out parade where all the prizes and awards available were won by female officers and also the first general parade to be commanded by a female parade commander in the history of AVSEC and ARFFS graduation in FAAN.
