An early morning rainstorm in Lagos on Sunday has caused unquantifiable destruction to the secretariat and properties of Airports and Aviation Correspondents ( LAAC) Secretariat; located in ATSSSAN building along the link road, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The violent storm which accompanied the heavy downpour on Sunday morning, blew off the section of the roof under which the Secretariat is located on the first floor of the one storey Labour House building.
When African Business Travel News ( ABTN) visited the building on Monday morning the degree of damage done to office equipment, furniture, stationery and other belongings was substantial.
Our correspondent who visited the building this morning reported that affected are the League’s printers, desktop computers, standing fans, air conditioner sets, a refrigerator, television sets, stabilizers and the furniture.
LAAC General Secretary, Abel Orukpe added that other materials destroyed by the storm were official documents and the League’s magazine library.
Orukpe who spoke on the unfortunate situation said the extent of the damage is yet to be determined as the executives members of the league are still sifting through the destruction to recover anything they can.
He said,” I was on my way to church when I received the news of the natural disaster. I had to take a detour and when I got to the secretariat words could not express what I found.”
“To be honest, I did not know where to start from, but we managed to salvage what we could.”
