The community radio station of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, will be commissioned and begin transmission in January 2017.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, gave the hint in his office last week while signing a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the project contractor, Sound Broadcast Communications Limited.
He said, “The project has gone through the normal processes, including the approval of the State Tenders Board. The University convocation which is expected to hold in January 2017 will have among its programmes, the commissioning of the University Radio.”
Ajibefun, who expressed confidence in the capability of the contractors to deliver quality jobs, appreciated the company for doing business with the University and urged them to do their best to ensure that the project is completed at record time.
The Vice Chancellor said, “We know your worth as a company who has handled similar work and delivered good results. We do not harbor any fear or doubt about your capability and I believe you will deliver on your promises. I want to thank you for doing business with our University and urge you to deliver the project as agreed.”
The Project Director, Mr. Friday Aizeboje, assured the University of doing a good work, noting that his company has done a similar project for other institutions, including the University of Ibadan; Federal University of Technology, Akure; Lagos State University; and Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State.
The work involves the procurement, delivery to site, installation and commissioning of an On-Air Studio, Production and Back-Up (On-Air) studio, a 1000 Watts Frequency Modulation (FM) Stereo Transmitter and its ancillary antennas, a 200ft self- supporting mast and transmission antenna, and improvement on the studio as well as its partitioning and acoustic treatment.
