The newly appointed Director General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authoriy ( DG, NCAA), Capt Musa Nuhu has urged journalists reporting aviation industry in Nigeria to focus their attention more on developmental issues in the industry.
Nuhu who noted that there are many issues in the aviation industry that could be brought forward through developmental reportage added that doing so would challenge stakeholders in the sector to produce an industry that every Nigerian will be proud of because it would bring in the much needed foreign investment the nation has been yearning for.
“If truth must be told, there is a plethora of issues in aviation that could be highlighted to support the notion of the media as a tool for national development.
Therefore, it will be a significant development if developmental issues affecting aviation are brought to the front burner.
Aviation Industry in Nigeria has consistently craved for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Our esteemed practitioners can do well to in a most lucid way highlight investment baskets in the industry,” he said..
The new chief executive officer at NCAA made the call at the 2020 edition of annual training of League of Aviation and Airport Correspondents (LAAC) training programme held at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria.
The Director General who was represented by the General Manager, Kaduna Regional Manager, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA), Engr. Mohammed Sani added, “the issue could border on any segment of aviation that can impact the industry by way of policy shift or elicit a course of action
Declaring the training open, the Rector, NCAT, Capt Abdulsalami Mohamme who appreciated NCAA and other agencies such as Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria(FAAN) and Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) for sponsoring the annual trainng for aviation journalists in the country said training is very important in line of any business that wants to grow.
Mohammed said the world has realised that investment in human capital development is as important investment in physical infrastructure. He therefore implored agencies and services providers in the aviation industry to keep investing in their personnel for better productivity.
The Rector who said NCAT has in the last one year improved on the equipment and infrastructure at the aviation college said hinted that a Boeing 737 Simulator has been acquired in Canada and awaiting United States Federal Aviation Administration (US-FAA) certification before it is shipped into the country, added that the college has acquired and installed an advance guarde security system to monitor its runway area.
