To continuously build a world class and an enviable institution that would ensure safety in air transportation in Nigeria, Commissioner/ CEO, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Engr Akin Olateru has urged staff of the bureau to make focus, diligence and integrity their watchwords in year 2020.
In his speech to welcome the staff of the Bureau to work in the year 2020, Olateru applauded the workers for putting in their best and earned laurels in the previous years.
He affirmed that the workers have the responsibility to ensure safe air transportation in the country
“In our effort to continuously build a world class and an enviable institution, this year, our watch/key words must be FOCUS, DILIGENCE and INTEGRITY,” Olateru said..
Adding, “It is our responsibility to ensure that, as far as it is possible, we help to keep air transportation safe, and transporters accountable.
It is our core mandate to investigate occurrences in relation to air transportation and to make an accurate determination*.
Recalled the successes recorded by the bureau in the past, the Bureau’s Chief Executive Officer who prayed that the year Two Thousand and Twenty would bring greater achievements to the workers, bureau, ministry of aviation and the nation as a whole, insisted that they must not rest on their oars towards achieving greater heights in the future.
“As we start a new year, I invite us to reflect on the successes and accolades of the past years.
Take a moment to congratulate yourselves, individually and corporately, for your
contribution to the realisation of these goals and successes.
” You certainly deserve it, and as your Commissioner and CEO, I applaud each and every one of you, and thank you for your service.
“We bear the burden of a huge responsibility in matters which are always of National importance and often of the highest sensitivity to the parties concerned.
It is our responsibility to ensure that, as far as it is possible, we help to keep air transportation safe, and transporters accountable.
It is our core mandate to investigate occurrences in relation to air transportation and to make an accurate determination, in order to prevent their recurrence and to mitigate any undesirable after effects.
We cannot and must not, therefore, rest on our laurels.
“While noting that each of the workers has made useful contributions to the success recorded, Olateru said: “There is always work to be done and room for improvement and growth. We must each constantly self evaluate, take stock and re-evaluate our individual performances, to identify areas in which we could do better, and in preparation for any challenges which lie ahead.It is essential for us to forge ahead with a greater sense of purpose, focus, and a clearer understanding of the role that we each play in this critical quest.
“We must be more determined and committed to the delivery of the high quality standards which are required in our industry. I offer you my firm assurance that, in my drive for excellence, investment in personnel development and welfare will continue to be a priority as is, too, the refinement of our procedures and processes. It is my view that job satisfaction, equity and fairness are pivotal to high quality service delivery. As we look to the future, I implore you all to intensify your efforts and dedication to serve.”
