Rector NCAT to moderate discussion at LAAC conference

Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Capt.  Capt. Abdulsalami Muhammed has been selected as the moderator of the panel of discussants  at the 23rd Annual Conference  of League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).

The conference with theme:  ‘Boosting Aviation Investment Through Policy.’  would have Director of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Muhtar Usman, and Engr. Akin Olateru, Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) Engr. Akin Olateru as part of the panelists.

The organising committee  has selected the entire aviation agency Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to form the panel of discussants at the annual conference, which is scheduled to hold on July 17, 2019 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja.

Others are the Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Capt. Fola Akinkuotu and Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Hamisu Yadudu,

Among others industry industry stakeholders expected to play key role at the event are the Chairman CEO, Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema,  Chief Executive Officer of Arik Air,  Capt. Roy Ilegbodu and  the CEO of Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera.

Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed was born on April 15, 1956 in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.

He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1969 from Dambatta Primary School, Kano, where he proceeded to Government College Kano, to obtain a West African Ordinary Level Certificate in 1974.

By 1977 he had his Commercial Pilot Training from Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre (NCATC), now Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria, and moved to Oxford Air Training School, Kidlington England, to get his training as a flight instructor.

By 1981, he also had his Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Rating from Flight Safety Academy, Vero Beach, Florida, USA.

Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed has 42 years of aviation industry experience, with over 18,000 flight hours. He has worked with various airlines, which include: Discovery Airways LTD, Arik Air Limited, Virgin Nigeria/Air Nigeria, DAS Air Cargo, Merchant Express Cargo Airline, Okada Airline, E.A.S Cargo Airlines, and United Air Service. He has flown various aircraft which included: B707, B727, B737, B767, DC10 and A340, to mention a few.

Capt. Abdulsalami Mohammed has also held various management positions, which include: Training Captain, Chief Pilot, Head of Training and Standards, Director of Flight Operations, Managing Director of many airlines.

He has also worked with NCAA and was the Chairman of the Committee on the establishment of a national carrier.

The conference would be chaired by Alhaji Muneer Bankole, CEO of Med-View Airline, while Dr. Harold Demuren, the former Director-General of NCAA, is the lead speaker.

While Demuren would deliver a paper on: ‘Boosting Aviation Investment Through Policy: Government Perspective, Capt. Roland Iyayi, the Chief Executive Officer of TopBrass Aviation Limited, would deliver the second paper titled: ‘Boosting Aviation Investment Through Policy: An Airline Perspective.’
