FAAN begins investigations into Owerri airport fire incident

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced preliminary investigations into the cause of the  fire outbreak that happened at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri this afternoon.
In a statement by the image maker of the airport authority, Mr. Henrietta Yakubu, the cause of the inferno which affected a portion of the airport terminal was yet unknown as at press time.
Yakubu however said the quick intervention of personnel of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of FAAN put the fire under control.
“FAAN wishes to inform passengers and the general public that there was a fire incident that affected some parts of the terminal building of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri at about 1400hours today.
The fire was however curtailed swiftly by officers of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of FAAN
“The Authority has commenced preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident,” she said.
There was no casualty recorded in the inferno even as  normal operations has since resumed at the airport.
