Buying and selling in Akure, Ondo State Capital would be suspended tomorrow to mark the age long traditional Ahiregbe festival in the ancient city.
The Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo gave the notice of the closure in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye, on Saturday.
Oba Aladetoyinbo informed the residents of Akure and its environs, that all markets and shops should remain closed on Monday, August 27.
The monarch said that the closure was necessary to observe the age long tradition Aheregbe festival which would be held on Monday.
According to him, trading or opening of shops under any guise will not be allowed.
He enjoined the residents, market women and shop owners to kindly comply with the directive.
He, however, noted that the festival would not in anyway restrict movement of human and vehicles in the city
