Operatives of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos command have arrested two Ghanaian ladies for attempting to illegally use the Lagos airport as a transit route to Jordan in the middle East.
The two ladies ( identities withheld) were arrested at about 10:00am on Wednesday in the departure hall of the Lagos airport while attempting to check-in on board an Egypt Air flight MS876.
They were suspected of exploring Nigerian airport to travel to Jordan since they were regarded ineligible to travel out of Accra airport because of Ghana’s strict regulations of movement of young ladies on international trips.
Interrogations of the suspects however revealed that their movement was one of the continuous attempts by Ghanaian young ladies and their collaborators to use the MMIA as a transit route for trafficking of Ghanaian ladies to other continents of the world.
African Business Travel News (ABTN) learnt that the suspects in their early twenties, have been handed over to officials of Ghanaian High Commission in Lagos for repatriation to their home country where they may face prosecutions.
