Chapters of labour unions in Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) specially members of Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) have dissociated themselves from the proposed strike called by the United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC).
The decision came after an emergency meeting held between NAMA management and representatives of ANAP, Aeronautical Information Services Association of Nigeria (AISAN) and the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) today where the issue of the proposed strike action by the ULC was discussed.
(ABTN) learnt that after issues related to the strike scheduled to take effect from Monday, September 18, 2017 were discussed, the above unions decided to dissociate themselves from it.
A statement by the management of NAMA said, “It is pertinent to inform the general public that while NAAE denied membership of the United Labour Congress, AISAN and ANAP whose members are in NAMA have assured the agency of their decision NOT to join the strike.
“The agency therefore wishes to reassure the general public of full compliments of air navigation service provision throughout the period of the intended strike if it takes place.”
This statement is issued by the management, and not the individual unions and associations. It is merely management gimmick. Let’s see how the strike paans out. GS, NAAPE
