An officer of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs Moridiyya Motunrayo Azeez, has done the service, and the nation proud by winning the gold medal prize in the W50 Masters in Javelin, at the ongoing World Masters Athletics Competition, in Daegu, South Korea.
African Business Travel News (ABTNEWS) correspondent who monitored the event virtually, reported that she threw 37.74 m to defeat her closest competitors from the United States of America and Slovenian who won the Silver and Bronze medals, respectively, to become the world champion on Tuesday
Azeez, an Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI 1), currently serving at the Abuja Headquarters of the NIS, had served at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command, and Ikoyi Passport Office, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service (CGI) Kemi Nanna Nandap has commended Azeez for emerging as World Champion and Gold Medallist in the W50 Masters Javelin event at the ongoing World Masters Athletics Competition in South Korea, she also commended another officer of the service ASI Kayode AAjilore (ASI) for leading Nigeria Continental Beach Volleyball contingent to historic double achievement at the African Beach Volleyball Continental Championship — securing Nigeria’s first-ever continental title in the competition, thereby helped the nation to secure hee Olympic qualification ticket in Beach Volleyball for the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
In her commendation message to the two officers who distinguished themselves in their different fields of sport, Nandap said “On behalf of the officers and men celebrates these remarkable sporting achievements, which have brought immense pride to the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria as a whole. These accomplishments exemplify the spirit of excellence, dedication, resilience and national pride that continues to distinguish our officers and representatives on the global stage.”
She hails from Oyo State and is happily married with children.
