West Africa’s largest airline and Nigeria’s premier carrier, Air Peace, has successfully concluded its second humanitarian evacuation mission from South Africa, safely airlifting 271 stranded Nigerian nationals back home.
The evacuation waa carried out in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The flight, operated with the airline’s flagship Boeing 777-200 wide-body aircraft, departed Johannesburg and arrived safely at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, at 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday June 30, 2026, where it docked at the Cargo and Hajj Terminal for passenger processing.
The operation was coordinated through the Federal Government following concerns arising from xenophobic tensions in parts of South Africa, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to the safety and welfare of her citizens abroad.
This latest humanitarian mission brings Air Peace’s total airlift under the ongoing South African evacuation exercise to 533 Nigerian nationals, following the successful evacuation of 262 citizens on June 11, 2926.
The achievement further underscores the airline’s unwavering commitment and operational readiness to support national emergency response efforts whenever called upon.
Speaking on the successful operation, the airline’s spokesperson, Mr. Efe Osifo-Whiskey, commended the Federal Government for its swift intervention while acknowledging the visionary leadership of Air Peace Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Allen Onyema.
“Today’s successful evacuation once again reflects the power of public-private collaboration in safeguarding Nigerian lives. We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising the welfare of Nigerians abroad.
