Managing Director/ Chief Executive, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku has commended members of League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) for always coming up with innovations to move the aviation industry forward whenever there are issues of great concerns.
Making the commendation on Thursday in her goodwill message to the colloquium with theme: Aviation Fuel Business in Nigeria: The Scenario and the Metaphor” jointly organised by LAAC and CITA Energies, held at Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA Lagos, she noted that the timely intervention of the aviation journalists through the colloquium, can not be more timely than at a time when the issue of aviation fuel business has become both a national concern and an opportunity for innovation.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria commends the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents for convening this important colloquium at a time when the aviation fuel business has become both a national concern and an opportunity for innovation,” Kuku extols.
The Chief Executive of FAAN who noted that the proliferation of airports across the country underscores the important roles aviation fuel marketers in the aviation industry, assured commitment of the Agency to supporting policies and partnerships that will strengthen the subsector
“As airports expand across the country, FAAN recognizes the strategic role of oil marketers in ensuring a safe, reliable, and sustainable fuel supply chain. We are therefore committed to supporting policies and partnerships that will strengthen this vital segment of the aviation ecosystem,”
Kuku who was represented by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection FAAN, Mr. Henry Agbebiire insisted that FAAN will continue to support innovation that will promote the subsector of the industry in the following areas.
“First, we will work with regulators to streamline and accredit fuel marketers, ensuring that only competent and compliant players operate at our airports. This will promote transparency and a level playing field for all.
” Second, we are encouraging collaboration among marketers — to move from competition for volume to cooperation for quality and sustainability. The market should be guided by shared standards, not fragmented rivalry.
“Third, FAAN is open to supporting the establishment of additional JUHI facilities beyond Lagos and Abuja. More fuel farms across our airports will ease logistics, reduce costs, and enhance nationwide connectivity.
“Fourth, we will remain steadfast in ensuring that fuel quality and safety are never compromised. Our Quality Assurance framework will continue to uphold global standards in fuel storage, handling, and delivery.
And, “Finally, FAAN will continue to provide enabling infrastructure — from efficient airside access to modern storage facilities — while also encouraging innovation, including early exploration of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in partnership with forward-thinking marketers.
She therefore reiterated that the airport Authority will continue to be the enabler and partner at ensuring that the nation’s aviation fuel ecosystem becomes stronger.
“FAAN stands ready to be an enabler, facilitator, and partner in ensuring that Nigeria’s aviation fuel ecosystem becomes stronger, cleaner, and more resilient, Kuku assured.
