To enable the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration among other reasons, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted a tenure extension to the Comptroller-General in office.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the reforms included the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project; and execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
Onanuga afded that Tinubu who recognises Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service, is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
Adeniyi’s tenure which was due to expire on August 31, 2025, has been extended by one year.
