The third batch of Nigerians residing illegally in Libya have arrived the country .
The deportees numbering 171 arrived the countrt via Muritala Muhammed Airport, Lagos aboard a chartered flight operated by Buraq Air with aircraft registration no TNSIB (UZ/89/190
The deportees comprising of 76 males and 95 females hace called on federal government to provide jobs for the youths to prevent the dangerous trend of youths crossing the dreaded Mediterranean sea to Europe
Among the deportees were three with medical cases who were brought in an ambulance to the Haji camp of the airport were they were profiled.
They all looked joyous to have been able to make it alive back to Nigeria after the harrowing experience they went through in Libya.
Addressing newsmen after the profiling of the deportees, National Commission for Refugee Commissioner(NCRC), Hajia Sadiat Umar-Farouk said not all the deportees are illegal immigrants as some of them had valid papers but were deported after a frame up by their host country militias.
She however advised young girls to avoid “this dangerous journey across the dessert in search of greener pasture”.
“The grass is actually not as green on the other side as the youths imagine. They should stay back here , their country, and practice their trade as some of these returnees already have skills they learnt here in Nigeria. They can stay back here and practice their trade. They can make it here. It is these same skills they practice in the country they are migrating to.”
She disclosed that the NCRC is always in constant touch with the international refugee agency to assist any Nigeria in distress abroad and to assist them to return back to Nigeria as the current 171 Nigerians who were assisted back by the commission.
