A full-scale security emergency simulation was conducted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday
The exercise which took place in the morning at the baggage hall of International Terminal 1. during the checking – in of Ethiopian Airline was a bomb threat simulation
according to Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua the exercise was conducted to assess the level of preparedness of the Airport’s response to emergency.
Personnel from Anti-Bomb Squad, Nigrtia Police Force, NigerianAir Force, Aviation Security, Aerodrome Rescue 3Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) ,Medical, ground handling companies, NIGERIA Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and all other agencies responded to the situation spontaneously
Evacuation of passengers from the hall was carried out successfully. Passengers and other airport users were later informed that what they witnessed was a simulation and they were advised not to panic but go about their normal activities without fear. .
