The Joint Military Taskforce (JMTF) attached to Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos on Monday morning, accosted a man, Adeleke Adeyeri Sowemimo Adeyeri for illegal rearing of cows and other domestic animals along the flight path within the perimeter fence of Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos.
Sowemimo was ordered to remove his ten cows and other domestic animals rearing illegally on a vacant piece of land between the premises of defunct Concord Newspapers and Joint Users Hydrant Installation (JUHI) along the link road between the international and domestic wings of the Lagos Airport immediately.
Reliable sources said the cattle owner was also made to sign an undertaking with the airport joint security team with a promise to stay away from the vacant land.
Meanwhile some youths from the airport’s neighborhood who claimed that their sporting activities on the vacant land have been disrupted, applauded the security team for acting promptly and ordered the removal of his animals from the area.
The youths who claimed they are on vacation, said they had abandoned their sporting activities on the field because of the fear of possible attacks from the cattles.
They also expressed the fear that some of the cattles, if not removed, may stray to the main road where free flow vehicular traffic within the airport may be obstructed.
