Green Africa Airways has started scheduled flight operations to Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan.
The airline began the operations at the airport on Saturday at about 0630hrs with check-in of Abuja bound passengers
An aircraft marked 5N – GAE deployed for the inaugural flight landed at the Airport at 0740hrs and was welcomed with the traditional water canon and accompanying funfare performed by the personnel of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
On ground to witness the inaugural flight were the Executive Governor of Oyo State who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Adebayo Lawal, the Airport Manager of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Otunba Adedeji Ojo Afolabi, members of the State House of Assembly, traditional chiefs among other stakeholders.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Babawande Afolabi officially announced the commencement of operations at the inaugural flight ceremony.
With the exception of Wednesdays, the airline is scheduled to operate six weekly flights to and from the airport on Lagos-Ibadan and Ibadan- Abuja routes.
