The the vision to establish a carrier that would give wings to everyone, finally came to reality on Tuesday with the launch of first hybrid airline in Nigeria – ValueJet
The airline which was officially launched on Tuesday at an elaborate event held at Providence Hotels Ikeja GRA, Lagos, will begin operations on Monday 10,2022. operating on Lagos, Abuja, Asaba, Jos and Port Harcourt routes.
Speaking at the event which was attended by aviation top brass and captains of industry in the country, Chairman of the airline, Hon. Adekunle Soname who did not claim ignorance of the prevailing tough economic and harsh operating realities in Nigeria and the aviation industry in particular, affirmed that the airline decided to convert the negative environment to its advantage, by carving a niche for itself by been a hybrid carrier with a fleet of new CRJ-900 airplanes.
Insisted that “Tough times are for us to get tougher and not use current climate as a negative block but rather an energising springboard, Soname affirmed, “ValueJet is hardly a stranger in the industry and all operational insights from previous partnerships have been applied in building our business and propositions, we have identified a niche in the sector, the need for fair pricing amidst the rising cost of commercial aviation to average customer compounded by the tough economic realities for air operators.
“These insights indeed have led us to launch the first hybrid carrier, the only airline providing both low cost and legacy product options to the customers.
“At the heart of our portfolio of products is the determination to consistently ensure flying becomes accessible and affordable to every air traveler in Nigeria.
He said that the airline’s business mode couple with fleet of new aircraft, resolute professional workforce and technology would help in delivering the customers experience for successful operations in the industry.
“Our fleet of modern and efficient CRJ 900 aircraft is ready, we can boast of a resolute professional workforce which is among the best in the industry to deliver end-to-end customer experience backed by modern technology,” he affirmed.
He also added that the airline has the vision to expand its operations beyond the shore of Nigeria.
“With a long-term vision and growth mindset, we have set our sights in the coming years to expand beyond the Nigerian airspace. We are in a privileged position despite existing economic headwinds. We are building a cost-conscious business with an understanding of the sector and how Nigeria is poised to play a key role in developing Africa’s aviation by joining the rest of the global players in regional and international markets.
In his speech at the event, Chief Commercial Officer, Trevor Henry said the airline will begin operations with Lagos- Abuja- Lagos twice daily; Lagos-Port Harcourt-Lagos- Asaba and Lagos-Jos-Lagos routes.
He added that the airline has plans to spread its wings to Lagos-Abuja- Kano, Lagos- Abuja- Yola and Lagos-Benin- Lagos routes
