The Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Dr Wole Oluyede has congratulated the entire people of Ekiti as the state celebrates her twenty one year anniversary of its creation.
Oluyede also felicitated with Nigeria on 57th Independence anniversary, urging Nigerians to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in tackling corruption in the country.
Ekiti state was carved out of the old Ondo State on October 1, 1996 during the regime of the then Military Head of State, Late General, Sanni Abacha exactly twenty one years ago.
Oluyede who recalled that unity and development were among some of the objectives for the creation of Ekiti state, noted that the homogeneity of the state was a pointer to the fact that Ekiti is an entity where unity is not negotiable.
He added that Ekiti as an agrarian state was endowed with various natural resources needed to be tapped into for her development and sustainability.
The aspirant however regretted that despite the natural endowment, Ekiti remained poor because of poor governance and leadership.
In a statement from his media office, Oluyede said: ‘’Ekiti by historic records, collective integrities and genetic identities, stands as always as Ile Iyi Ile Eye.’’
The statement therefore reminded the people of the state that: “This is the time to work hard and build a virile Ekiti of our dream and aspiration to achieve the desired renaissance of rebirth, unfortunately, the reckless misrule has derailed Ekiti from its path of glory and place of pride. Ekiti basically requires a responsible and responsive government that will not misplace the welfare priority of the people.
“A government that will promote a participatory democracy where everybody will partake, benefits and enjoy equal rights and privileges.
“A government that seeks above everything the common good of the greatest common people’’
In the preparation for the governorship election in the state, Oluyede called on the leadership of the party to present an electable candidate by conducting a free and fair primary election.
He added that a candidate of his integrity has the wherewithal to take Ekiti to a greater height.
Oluyede affirmed that he remained the candidate Ekiti needed now to give the state the required development.”
The aspirant, however, used the occasion to commiserate with the Owa Ooye of Okemesi Ekiti, Oba Micheal Gbadebo Adedeji and the people of Okemesi in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state, over the soil creep that recently occurred in the area.
The soil creep was a disaster that wrecked havoc on the town in the early hours of Thursday. Properties worth millions of naira were reportedly destroyed during the creep after three days of downpour in the ancient town
