As part of its efforts to rid Nigerian airports of undesirable elements, management of Federal Authority Airports of Nigeria (FAAN) said it arrested about 90 persons suspected of engaging in touting, forge Covid-19 certificates, theft among other illegal activities at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (NAIA) during the yuletide period.
FAAN in a statement by its General Manager Corporate Communications, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, said those arrested have been handed over to the Airport Command of Nigeria Police Force for prosecution
“The touts were arrested for various acts of illegality including Fake Covid-19 test results, Touting, unauthorised entry, trespass, illegal facilitation, forgery, loitering, theft, public nuisance and arguments, amongst others.
“FAAN will like to use this opportunity to warn those that do not have any legitimate business at the airports, as well as airport staff carrying out illegal duties to desist from such acts, as the Authority will not hesitate to arrest and hand over such individuals for prosecution.” the statement said.
The airport authority which did not give the breakdown of the arrests, however insisted its security directorate would leave no stone unturned until every airport in the country is rid of activities of the undesirable elements within the aviation sector.
